Designer Quartz System For A Traditional Home In Tyler, Tx

John Cody Loftin • June 28, 2023

Our Designer Quartz Systems are one of the most durable systems that we offer and are perfect for exterior & high traffic areas. This System also requires two broadcast coats to ensure proper media coverage.

Preparing The Concrete

We mechanically prepped this concrete with our walk behind grinders to create an aggressive profile that ensures a strong bonding of our coatings for many, many years to come. All of rises (verticals) we grinded by hand with our dust controlled hand grinders.

  Repairs
We repaired every crack and pit to ensure a seamless finish. Even the rough areas and pits from the rises not being properly finished during the concrete pour were repaired and filled.

  Deep Clean & Masking
After deep cleaning the concrete, we made sure to completely mask off the stone and surrounding areas to make sure that this client's home even more beautiful than when we arrived.

  Base Coat & Broadcast
We used our pigmented polyaspartic coatings as a strong base coat that also allowed us to work in colder temperatures. Once we had the coat installed, we over broadcasted our Biscuit Quartz to gain 100% coverage.

  Scraping & Quartz Clean Up

After our initial coat cures, we pick up the excess flake. We then proceed to scrape the flake in several directions to gain the texture profile we desire and to eliminate any sharp nibs. A final vacuum is then done and the second broadcast coat is ready to be installed.

  Second Broadcast

We always install two broadcast coats with our Designer Quarts Systems. This guarantees adequate coverage with our quartz media, as well as adds to the overall durability. Making this system on the longest lasting and most durable systems on the market! (Scraping & Quartz Clean Up repeated)

  Topcoat
A polyaspartic clear coat was then installed to provide a beautiful finish that will last for many years to come!

On this project we had to strip over 600 lbs of mastics and adhesives of the concrete slab! Once everything was removed and deep cleaned we were able to stain and apply a long-lasting polyaspartic topcoat.

We went with our Shoreline Designer Flake System to compliment this gorgeous home, providing a long lasting non-porous, chemical resistant, and slip resistant finish.
